Narrative:

It was the first leg of the day for the crew. We were assigned the TECKY3 RNAV departure. We studied the departure during preflight; to include the flyover waypoint at stclr as well as the speed limit of maximum 230 knots at stclr. As we crossed stclr at 230 knots and approximately 3;000 feet; we were given a right turn to heading 120. I switched to heading mode and dialed in 120 for the heading. In the turn; the aircraft accelerated to approximately 240 knots. ATC advised us about 2/3 of the way through the turn that we were too fast for below the class B airspace. This comment created confusion for us. We explained our compliance with the 230 knots restriction and I immediately slowed to 230 knots for the remainder of the departure. The flight continued to the destination as planned.during our 5 hour flight; we discussed and studied our situation. Although sjc is not under the sfo class B; the RNAV departure puts the flight path under the southern part of the sfo class B. However; stclr is within sjc class C airspace below 4;000 feet. At stclr; the bottom of the class B is 7;000 feet. The departure is misleading; in that it says maximum 230 kts for stclr. I focused too much on that speed restriction and not about the class B. I'm not sure why the departure has that limit on it. I will fly my future departures out of sjc to the north at 200 knots.
