Narrative:

During the descent into tul the seat belt sign was turned on at approximately 12000' MSL and a supporting announcement was made to include, 'landing in about 10 mins.' about 7000' I picked up the passenger announcement hand microphone to make the F/a's prepare for landing announcement, and simultaneously the 'a' F/a knocked on the door very vigorously. I unlocked the door thinking something might be wrong, and she came in and asked if we would like a beverage. I emphatically replied, 'we're landing, now,' and she returned to the cabin. At that point I replaced the passenger announcement handset on its hook west/O officially making an announcement. 2 of the 3 F/a's were standing when we landed. The landing and rollout were normal, therefore there was no further incident. The equipment that I am currently flying is the medium large transport new model which is an expanding fleet. The manpwr requirement to pilot the aircraft is also increasing rapidly with a constant flow of newly transitioned pilots arriving weekly. The F/a's rely on the 'prepare for landing' announcement, which is supposed to be given 5 mins before landing. However, with the experience level in the medium large transport cockpit, it is inappropriate to divert attention away from the very busy approach and landing phase to make the announcement at that time. I believe the announcement should be made leaving 10000'. Supplemental information from acn 162937: between 7000 and 9000', the ff/a knocked loudly on the cockpit door. When she entered the cockpit, she asked if we wanted anything to drink. The captain stated very emphatically, 'no, we're landing now!'

Title: FLT CREW OF ACR MLG FAILED TO GIVE CABIN 5 MINUTE WARNING BEFORE LNDG AND THERE WERE CABIN ATTENDANTS STANDING WHEN THE ACFT LANDED.

Narrative: DURING THE DSNT INTO TUL THE SEAT BELT SIGN WAS TURNED ON AT APPROX 12000' MSL AND A SUPPORTING ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE TO INCLUDE, 'LNDG IN ABOUT 10 MINS.' ABOUT 7000' I PICKED UP THE PAX ANNOUNCEMENT HAND MIC TO MAKE THE F/A'S PREPARE FOR LNDG ANNOUNCEMENT, AND SIMULTANEOUSLY THE 'A' F/A KNOCKED ON THE DOOR VERY VIGOROUSLY. I UNLOCKED THE DOOR THINKING SOMETHING MIGHT BE WRONG, AND SHE CAME IN AND ASKED IF WE WOULD LIKE A BEVERAGE. I EMPHATICALLY REPLIED, 'WE'RE LNDG, NOW,' AND SHE RETURNED TO THE CABIN. AT THAT POINT I REPLACED THE PAX ANNOUNCEMENT HANDSET ON ITS HOOK W/O OFFICIALLY MAKING AN ANNOUNCEMENT. 2 OF THE 3 F/A'S WERE STANDING WHEN WE LANDED. THE LNDG AND ROLLOUT WERE NORMAL, THEREFORE THERE WAS NO FURTHER INCIDENT. THE EQUIP THAT I AM CURRENTLY FLYING IS THE MLG NEW MODEL WHICH IS AN EXPANDING FLEET. THE MANPWR REQUIREMENT TO PLT THE ACFT IS ALSO INCREASING RAPIDLY WITH A CONSTANT FLOW OF NEWLY TRANSITIONED PLTS ARRIVING WKLY. THE F/A'S RELY ON THE 'PREPARE FOR LNDG' ANNOUNCEMENT, WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE GIVEN 5 MINS BEFORE LNDG. HOWEVER, WITH THE EXPERIENCE LEVEL IN THE MLG COCKPIT, IT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO DIVERT ATTN AWAY FROM THE VERY BUSY APCH AND LNDG PHASE TO MAKE THE ANNOUNCEMENT AT THAT TIME. I BELIEVE THE ANNOUNCEMENT SHOULD BE MADE LEAVING 10000'. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 162937: BTWN 7000 AND 9000', THE FF/A KNOCKED LOUDLY ON THE COCKPIT DOOR. WHEN SHE ENTERED THE COCKPIT, SHE ASKED IF WE WANTED ANYTHING TO DRINK. THE CAPT STATED VERY EMPHATICALLY, 'NO, WE'RE LNDG NOW!'
