Narrative:

Sunday, oct, at lake mccloud, an air force fighter plane suddenly appeared 800' above the lake and ripped past west to northeast at 500 mph. As a private pilot, I never saw it coming, or going either for that matter. Any pilot in a small plane on a pleasure flight touring mccloud canyon and wynton could have been hit and killed by the jet. Monday, oct, a tremendous boom shook my home. I called the FAA to report these incidents. My initial belief was that some young, top gun imitator was getting his kicks by flying so low, and away from a designated MOA. According to my flight chart, the nearest MOA is more than 100 mi to the southeast of here. The pilot was doing as ordered by air force command. Mr south of flight standards, FAA, a professional, later told me the jet was of air force origin, using a flyway called vr-1261, which is rted over lake mccloud. That is idented on charts. What is not idented on the charts, is that the flyway extends from only 200' to 1500' AGL. FAA also put in a call to the air force to ask that the jets not cause any more sonic booms.

Title: GA PLTS COMPLAINT ABOUT MIL USE OF VR ROUTES.

Narrative: SUNDAY, OCT, AT LAKE MCCLOUD, AN AIR FORCE FIGHTER PLANE SUDDENLY APPEARED 800' ABOVE THE LAKE AND RIPPED PAST W TO NE AT 500 MPH. AS A PRIVATE PLT, I NEVER SAW IT COMING, OR GOING EITHER FOR THAT MATTER. ANY PLT IN A SMALL PLANE ON A PLEASURE FLT TOURING MCCLOUD CANYON AND WYNTON COULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND KILLED BY THE JET. MONDAY, OCT, A TREMENDOUS BOOM SHOOK MY HOME. I CALLED THE FAA TO RPT THESE INCIDENTS. MY INITIAL BELIEF WAS THAT SOME YOUNG, TOP GUN IMITATOR WAS GETTING HIS KICKS BY FLYING SO LOW, AND AWAY FROM A DESIGNATED MOA. ACCORDING TO MY FLT CHART, THE NEAREST MOA IS MORE THAN 100 MI TO THE SE OF HERE. THE PLT WAS DOING AS ORDERED BY AIR FORCE COMMAND. MR S OF FLT STANDARDS, FAA, A PROFESSIONAL, LATER TOLD ME THE JET WAS OF AIR FORCE ORIGIN, USING A FLYWAY CALLED VR-1261, WHICH IS RTED OVER LAKE MCCLOUD.
