Narrative:

L2 door arming lever stuck would not go down. Maintenance called. During takeoff burning smell very strong in cabin. During climb ca (captain) called to inform us landing gear stuck down and returning to ZZZ. Returned without incident. When (flight attendant) flight attendant-a called for doors armed; my arming lever would not go down on L2 door. It felt like something was jamming the arming lever. Called flight attendant-a. She came and tried it. It wouldn't budge. Ca came to aft to try the door. It still wouldn't budge. Maintenance was called. They came out and opened and looked at the door. Then closed it a few times. After he closed the door the arming lever worked. I'm positive a part or something was stuck in the door. Maintenance was a bit shady and looked like they didn't know how the door worked. I felt uneasy. Maintenance seemed unsure. We then pushed back and took off. During takeoff a burning smell came into the cabin. It was so strong it burned and irritated my nose and started giving me a headache. People were covering their nose and mouth. I called flight attendant-a. It was just as bad in the fwd [cabin]. After a few seconds the ca called and said the landing gear was stuck down and we would be returning to ZZZ. We stayed in our (jumpseats) jss and landed without incident.
