Narrative:

Descending into anc after six plus hours, all night flight, there was a discrepancy between altimeter settings of ATC/pilot communications. Set 29.83, actual 28.83. 1000' off desired altitude (low). ATC would have brought it to our attention if he called it 'low pressure setting' or 'below 29.92.'

Narrative: DSNDING INTO ANC AFTER SIX PLUS HRS, ALL NIGHT FLT, THERE WAS A DISCREPANCY BTWN ALTIMETER SETTINGS OF ATC/PLT COMS. SET 29.83, ACTUAL 28.83. 1000' OFF DESIRED ALT (LOW). ATC WOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT TO OUR ATTN IF HE CALLED IT 'LOW PRESSURE SETTING' OR 'BELOW 29.92.'
