Narrative:

While in cruise at 23000' between shv-jan the oil filter bypass light illuminated on #2 engine. Descent was made toward jan (our destination) while complying with the pom. The WX was clear and smooth at 23000'. Level at 10000' about 30 NM west of jan VOR a precautionary in-flight shutdown was accomplished as per the pom. At that position the WX was IMC with rain. An uneventful landing was made at jan. Memphis center was not advised of this situation because of the crew's preoccupation with the abnormality and shutdown. After shutdown we were switched to FSS approaching jan VOR for approach and landing.
