Narrative:

During taxi, flood (overhead map light) adjusted to confirm trim. Circuit breaker popped which took out all 6 cockpit reading, map and briefcase lights. Lights were restored when breaker was located and rest. At this time I was searching for taxiway south. Clearance to taxi was 'outer sierra, hold short of runway 4L.' after lights restored, 'cleared to taxi, call tower.' crossed to sierra over some unnamed taxiway. Need better signs on txwys. As a result I crossed over a runway stopway. Tower controller was looking for us as we cut ahead of another aircraft in line due to crossing at wrong place. Bos runways and txwys are very confusing at night. If I flew to bos more often, it would not be so bad--but every couple of months is not often enough. Airport diagram is poor, in my opinion.
