Narrative:

Just another nice day until dealing with controllers at phl international airport. Having just landed at phl on runway 27R and clearing at xray, I noticed taxiway a was bunched up with aircraft and proceeded to inner taxiway south to proceed to the gate. I taxied very slowly on south towards my gate and called (first officer did calls) ground control 6 times between his xmissions to all the other aircraft depicted. We never got a reply. There was no aircraft blocking access to my gate and I proceeded slowly hoping to get controllers attention. I made it to circle mark before ground asked us who we were. We told him. He said you need permission to taxi, and we advised him we called him six times with no reply. He appeared cordial and said we should talk to him as he has lots of traffic. We said alleyway was clear anyway. I was going to talk to tower chief but I would've ended up in an argument. Those controllers will stop a fast moving aircraft so as to pass someone else in front of them and then having 2 stopped aircraft, you can't get them back on the radio to fix their mistake.
