Narrative:

Approaching the OM on a F/D approach to runway 27L at ord. I had just called for the gear down and final descent check. The first officer was somewhat distracted while running the check. I noticed a slight increase in rate of descent and it was getting larger (normal rate 700'-800' increased to about 1000'-1500'). Several things happened about the same time with LOM crossing. Both first officer and I reacted about the same time, questioning the descent rate. I stopped the descent rate and started back toward marker altitude about the same time approach control called us to check out altitude. I estimate the altitude deviation at the marker to be about 300'-400' low and we were climbing back to it. Soon thereafter I heard other aircraft questioning the status of the G/south. About the same time or within a few seconds thereafter approach again questioned our altitude and then said something like 'I see what's happening or what's going on or I see what's wrong. Then approach directed a missed approach. The second approach was normal. After landing I contacted approach by phone to find out that an aircraft on the ground had entered the clear area and disrupted the G/south signal for runway 27L. 3 aircraft had to miss. I wonder if anyone would have noticed the intruder aircraft if the WX was worse.

Title: ACFT TAXIING ENCROUCHES ON CLEAR AREA AND BLOCKS GLIDE SLOPE SIGNAL. THREE ACFT REQUIRE GO AROUND.

Narrative: APCHING THE OM ON A F/D APCH TO RWY 27L AT ORD. I HAD JUST CALLED FOR THE GEAR DOWN AND FINAL DSNT CHK. THE F/O WAS SOMEWHAT DISTRACTED WHILE RUNNING THE CHK. I NOTICED A SLIGHT INCREASE IN RATE OF DSNT AND IT WAS GETTING LARGER (NORMAL RATE 700'-800' INCREASED TO ABOUT 1000'-1500'). SEVERAL THINGS HAPPENED ABOUT THE SAME TIME WITH LOM XING. BOTH F/O AND I REACTED ABOUT THE SAME TIME, QUESTIONING THE DSNT RATE. I STOPPED THE DSNT RATE AND STARTED BACK TOWARD MARKER ALT ABOUT THE SAME TIME APCH CTL CALLED US TO CHK OUT ALT. I ESTIMATE THE ALT DEV AT THE MARKER TO BE ABOUT 300'-400' LOW AND WE WERE CLBING BACK TO IT. SOON THEREAFTER I HEARD OTHER ACFT QUESTIONING THE STATUS OF THE G/S. ABOUT THE SAME TIME OR WITHIN A FEW SECS THEREAFTER APCH AGAIN QUESTIONED OUR ALT AND THEN SAID SOMETHING LIKE 'I SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING OR WHAT'S GOING ON OR I SEE WHAT'S WRONG. THEN APCH DIRECTED A MISSED APCH. THE SEC APCH WAS NORMAL. AFTER LNDG I CONTACTED APCH BY PHONE TO FIND OUT THAT AN ACFT ON THE GND HAD ENTERED THE CLR AREA AND DISRUPTED THE G/S SIGNAL FOR RWY 27L. 3 ACFT HAD TO MISS. I WONDER IF ANYONE WOULD HAVE NOTICED THE INTRUDER ACFT IF THE WX WAS WORSE.
