Narrative:

Prior to departure from psg we called sitka FSS and requested our clearance IFR to sitka. We then taxied out and took off. Moments after we took off we realized that we had forgotten to get the IFR clearance. We maintained VFR conditions and called zan for the clearance. They advised us that they have given it to situation FSS. We were then cleared to situation by zan and proceeded west/O further incident. At no time until we received our IFR clearance did we encounter IFR conditions. Psg WX was approximately 6000' overcast, better than 30 mi visibility. Winds light and variable.
