Narrative:

Upon take off we received a red warning gear disagree message. We ran the QRH and diverted into ZZZ1 due to being several thousand pounds overweight to land back at ZZZZ. We landed at ZZZ1 without incident. There were no injuries and calls were made to operations shift manager and maintenance to inform of the situation. Cause: defective nose gear indication sensor.
