Narrative:

I accepted a handoff on medium large transport X climbing to FL230. On initial contact I issued a clearance to FL280. I reclred the aircraft to FL260 but did not hear the readback. I was distracted by other aircraft calling and override calls and did not reconfirm the altitude. I subsequently cleared an aircraft to FL270. I changed aircraft a to the next controller's frequency and did not realize that he was climbing through FL260 until the data block showed FL266. At that time, medium large transport Y was descending through FL277 and I issued a climb to FL280 but sep was lost.

Title: ARTCC CTLR CHANGED AN ALT ON AN ACFT AND DID NOT RECEIVE AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. ACFT CLIMBED TO ORIGINAL ASSIGNED ALT WHICH RESULTED IN LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION FROM A DESCENDING ACFT.

Narrative: I ACCEPTED A HDOF ON MLG X CLBING TO FL230. ON INITIAL CONTACT I ISSUED A CLRNC TO FL280. I RECLRED THE ACFT TO FL260 BUT DID NOT HEAR THE READBACK. I WAS DISTRACTED BY OTHER ACFT CALLING AND OVERRIDE CALLS AND DID NOT RECONFIRM THE ALT. I SUBSEQUENTLY CLRED AN ACFT TO FL270. I CHANGED ACFT A TO THE NEXT CTLR'S FREQ AND DID NOT REALIZE THAT HE WAS CLBING THROUGH FL260 UNTIL THE DATA BLOCK SHOWED FL266. AT THAT TIME, MLG Y WAS DSNDING THROUGH FL277 AND I ISSUED A CLB TO FL280 BUT SEP WAS LOST.
