Narrative:

Heard a loud 'pop' noise on flight deck shortly followed by the smell of electrical smoke followed shortly by the sight of electrical smoke. Informed cabin crew, informed ATC of electrical problem. Performed 'electrical smoke/fire source unknown' checklist. Requested immediate descent to FL250. Smoke seemed to dissipate during the initial phase of checklist. Continued to iah with normal approach and landing. No emergency equipment required. Made all appropriate entries in maintenance logbook.
