Narrative:

During climb passing 15;000 feet; received level 2 alert; engine 2 oil temp high. Engine 2 oil temperature was in the red band with a max temperature of 184 degrees. Non flying pilot ran the QRH procedure which directed the crew to shut down the number 2 engine and land at nearest suitable airfield. We performed an air turn back to [the departure airport] to an uneventful landing. We [advised] approach control before landing and secured the emergency after landing with ground control after the emergency response personnel confirmed there was no abnormal indications from the number 2 engine. Taxied to gate. Logbook entry was made. Duty officer was notified. Engine oil temperature high.
