Narrative:
Number two engine was left at idle at the gate. On arrival; we pulled up to the gate and performed our parking checklist. The aircraft had a quick turn and the oncoming captain was at the bottom of the jetway. APU and both packs were on as we did a debrief of the aircraft and flight with the oncoming captain. Minutes later; while on the van to the hotel; we were notified by the oncoming captain that the number 2 engine was at idle and that he had shut it down. As I recall; all appropriate switches were off and/or stop per the parking checklist. After reading the expanded checklist; I will include a scan of the engine indicators upon shutdown.
