Narrative:
Received our closeout on this flight. There were no restricted articles on board according to the closeout. An hour into the flight; received a message from dispatch that the station had called them; and we did have hazmat onboard. We were notified that we had 946 lbs of lithium batteries in the aft bin even though we had not been given a notoc (notification to captain) and had no restricted articles on our closeout. Was suggested that we file a report. Someone must have made an error in loading the aircraft. Find out how this happened; and prevent it from happening in the future.
