Prior to departure; release 1; mrd current; no dg. Had final weights prior to taxi. After takeoff; ACARS message to return to gate. Message time stamped [same time as] off time. During climb sent dispatch message we were already airborne. Load planning sent message biological item; not spillable; okay to proceed. We sent dispatch a message regarding load planning message okay to proceed; and asking dispatch if we had a safety of flight issue. Dispatch responded he saw load planning message regarding okay to proceed and agreed no safety of flight issue. Prior to descent sent one last message as to what was actually the item in question. Busy during the descent and called upon landing; dispatch said he had sent a message; he was told it was bio-medical and under a certain weight and did not need paperwork/notification associated with it.
