Narrative:

Received tank 3 fuel quantity low; tank 3 tip trapped; tank 3 tip fuel low; tank 3 5800 pounds unusable alerts. Due to maintenance delay after block out; 5800 pounds of unusable/trapped fuel put us below emergency fuel [at the destination]. Troubleshooting and QRH procedures only compounded the problem. We diverted uneventfully into ZZZ in order to land with enough fuel to ensure the engine did not fuel starve. Delays due to maintenance after block out at departure airport increased our taxi out burn and decreased our extra fuel at destination reducing our time to troubleshoot and make decisions.
