Narrative:

On deplaning of flight at ZZZ gate; I noticed a gate checked valet tagged suitcase brought up with the li+ battery still installed. I notified the customer that it needs to be removed and carried into the main cabin with her as it cannot be checked that way. I further notified the first officer on the flight who responded with a shoulder shrug saying; 'well; we survived.'
