Narrative:

On irnmn one arrival into lax we were slowed to 170 for spacing behind a B777. We encountered wake turbulence in the descent that was severe enough in pitch from side to side [and] required autopilot disengagement. We had briefed a visual approach to runway 24R; and [we] were cleared for the visual behind the B777. I was concerned about altitude behind that aircraft with the earlier turbulence and was distracted as we were on a dogleg to final. With my lax VOR frequency in primary; and localizer frequency for 24R in standby; we flew through final and were queried by the tower due to traffic inbound behind and above our path for 25L. We told him we were correcting and continued uneventfully.
