Narrative:

I was on approach to land at my base helipad. I rolled into a final approach around 300 ft AGL with a descent rate of 400 ft/min and a direct headwind around 10kts. The rate of closure felt a little fast so around 50 feet I did a little baby flare to slow the rate of closure. I lowered the nose so as to not slow down too much. After leveling and slowly applying power; around 10 feet AGL; I got a low rotor horn and settled in just short of the helipad. The wire strike protection underneath the helicopter caught the helipad where the dirt meets the concrete. This caused the helicopter to rise on the front skids before falling back level and stopping completely.keep approaches slow and descent rates less than 200ft/min. There is never a need to hurry. Maintain situational awareness and scan instruments on approach to identify hazards early.
