Narrative:

This incident occurred during a training flight at bct. The pre-solo student was learning how to land an small aircraft. The student and I, his flight instrument, had been doing touch and go's for an hour before the incident. Most of the time, the student would fly the aircraft down too close to the ground before leveling off. I was in the process of teaching him to level off and flare. This last time, he was flying the aircraft down to the ground. First, I verbally told him to level off. However, for whatever reason, he did not. Since the student did not release the controls immediately, I was not able to take the controls from the student until the propeller hit the ground. The result of this incident was propeller damage. No other structural damage and no casualties occurred. I was able to taxi-back to the ramp to inspect the aircraft.

Title: PROPELLER STRIKE AS INSTRUCTOR PLT IS UNABLE TO CORRECT SPI IN TIME ON LNDG PROC.

Narrative: THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED DURING A TRNING FLT AT BCT. THE PRE-SOLO STUDENT WAS LEARNING HOW TO LAND AN SMA. THE STUDENT AND I, HIS FLT INSTR, HAD BEEN DOING TOUCH AND GO'S FOR AN HR BEFORE THE INCIDENT. MOST OF THE TIME, THE STUDENT WOULD FLY THE ACFT DOWN TOO CLOSE TO THE GND BEFORE LEVELING OFF. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING HIM TO LEVEL OFF AND FLARE. THIS LAST TIME, HE WAS FLYING THE ACFT DOWN TO THE GND. FIRST, I VERBALLY TOLD HIM TO LEVEL OFF. HOWEVER, FOR WHATEVER REASON, HE DID NOT. SINCE THE STUDENT DID NOT RELEASE THE CTLS IMMEDIATELY, I WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE THE CTLS FROM THE STUDENT UNTIL THE PROP HIT THE GND. THE RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT WAS PROP DAMAGE. NO OTHER STRUCTURAL DAMAGE AND NO CASUALTIES OCCURRED. I WAS ABLE TO TAXI-BACK TO THE RAMP TO INSPECT THE ACFT.
