Cleared to land. Asked tower if [other] runway available. Told to land [on cleared] runway. I landed on left taxiway. I don't know how this could happen. I felt that something was wrong; but couldn't identify what was wrong. There was an airliner at the end of the taxiway; but even that didn't clarify what the problem was. I should have gone around since the landing did not seem right.
