Errors made in programming descent. No FAA violations occurred. Fatigue due to fly clt-lax in am, sleep during pm. Late pm same day flight lax-clt and arrive next am. Unprofessional airline scheduling and poor FAA oversight. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: no specific incident occurred. Reporter found himself having to repeatedly program the FMS because he kept making mistakes due to fatigue brought on by a poor layover the afternoon prior to this trip. Trip leaves clt in the morning non-stop to lax, arriving in the forenoon. The return non-stop flight leaves lax shortly prior to midnight and arrives in clt early in the morning.
