Narrative:

We pulled into gate and the captain set the parking brake. The marshaller gave a T type signal trying to indicate ground power but the captain mistook it for release brakes. He released the brakes as I was returning from opening the doors. I noticed we were moving and said we are moving and we subsequently lost the ground power connection. The captain quickly put the brakes on and maintenance plugged in to tell us over the intercom that we rolled approximately 15 feet. No damage or injury was noted and we had a debrief with maintenance personnel and the ramp manager to discuss the event and marshalling signals. Cause [was] human error from just momentary confusion. Suggestions: verify signals especially during longer days when we departed 3 hours late.
