Narrative:

Ground control gave us clearance to taxi to runway 19R, hold short of runway 19L and contact tower. Tower instructed us to taxi across runway 19L and hold short of runway 19R. Captain and I had finished the before takeoff checklist and PIC asked me to give him a full briefing on the noise abatement procedures and departure. I was giving the briefing and checking our FMC computer when I looked up and saw we had xed the runway 19R hold line and were taxiing across approach end of runway 19L before I could say anything. Tower advised us to continue across and turn around. They gave us a new release time and we then departed. I was flying the aircraft. Upon power up and takeoff roll we got a left bleed trip light (normal on a bleeds off takeoff). Upon climb out, captain was having trouble reconfiguring the bleeds back on. He asked to take the airplane and let me reconfigure. As I was doing so, captain flew through our 5000' clearance and stopped about 5400' MSL before we were issued a higher altitude. Captain was newly chkout in left seat with our company (he did have PIC experience at another carrier). I was constantly having to watch both my duties and his. Poor, poor crew coordination helped contribute to these problems. Captain is 55 yrs old and could not see the overhead panel well enough to reconfigure our bleed valves after takeoff. I wa stupid enough to momentarily look down during a critical taxi phase with a new captain unfamiliar with sna airport. Never again.

Title: FO ON ACR MLG COMPLAINS OF A SERIES OF EVENTS THAT OCCUR BECAUSE OF A CAPT, NEWLY CHECKED OUT BUT WITH PRIOR EXPERIENCE ON ANOTHER ACR, WHO'S PROFICIENCY IS IN DOUBT. PIC'S VERSION IS ALSO QUESTIONABLE.

Narrative: GND CTL GAVE US CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 19R, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 19L AND CONTACT TWR. TWR INSTRUCTED US TO TAXI ACROSS RWY 19L AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 19R. CAPT AND I HAD FINISHED THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST AND PIC ASKED ME TO GIVE HIM A FULL BRIEFING ON THE NOISE ABATEMENT PROCS AND DEP. I WAS GIVING THE BRIEFING AND CHKING OUR FMC COMPUTER WHEN I LOOKED UP AND SAW WE HAD XED THE RWY 19R HOLD LINE AND WERE TAXIING ACROSS APCH END OF RWY 19L BEFORE I COULD SAY ANYTHING. TWR ADVISED US TO CONTINUE ACROSS AND TURN AROUND. THEY GAVE US A NEW RELEASE TIME AND WE THEN DEPARTED. I WAS FLYING THE ACFT. UPON PWR UP AND TKOF ROLL WE GOT A L BLEED TRIP LIGHT (NORMAL ON A BLEEDS OFF TKOF). UPON CLBOUT, CAPT WAS HAVING TROUBLE RECONFIGURING THE BLEEDS BACK ON. HE ASKED TO TAKE THE AIRPLANE AND LET ME RECONFIGURE. AS I WAS DOING SO, CAPT FLEW THROUGH OUR 5000' CLRNC AND STOPPED ABOUT 5400' MSL BEFORE WE WERE ISSUED A HIGHER ALT. CAPT WAS NEWLY CHKOUT IN L SEAT WITH OUR COMPANY (HE DID HAVE PIC EXPERIENCE AT ANOTHER CARRIER). I WAS CONSTANTLY HAVING TO WATCH BOTH MY DUTIES AND HIS. POOR, POOR CREW COORD HELPED CONTRIBUTE TO THESE PROBS. CAPT IS 55 YRS OLD AND COULD NOT SEE THE OVERHEAD PANEL WELL ENOUGH TO RECONFIGURE OUR BLEED VALVES AFTER TKOF. I WA STUPID ENOUGH TO MOMENTARILY LOOK DOWN DURING A CRITICAL TAXI PHASE WITH A NEW CAPT UNFAMILIAR WITH SNA ARPT. NEVER AGAIN.
