Narrative:

Medium large transport X was climbing off iah to shu to FL370. Medium large transport Y was on the elm grove transition of the scy 9 arrival to dfw at FL350 when the C/a went off. I turned both aircraft to the left 60 degrees. Medium large transport X turned but medium large transport Y was called medium large transport Z. He asked if the turn was for medium large transport Y, then questioned the clearance again 40 seconds later. The C/a went off less than 1 mi before sep was lost. The incident occurred at the paxto high sector during a busy period staffed by 1 controller.

Title: LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION OCCURRED BETWEEN AN ACFT CLIMBING TO FL370 AND AN ACFT LEVEL AT FL350.

Narrative: MLG X WAS CLBING OFF IAH TO SHU TO FL370. MLG Y WAS ON THE ELM GROVE TRANSITION OF THE SCY 9 ARR TO DFW AT FL350 WHEN THE C/A WENT OFF. I TURNED BOTH ACFT TO THE LEFT 60 DEGS. MLG X TURNED BUT MLG Y WAS CALLED MLG Z. HE ASKED IF THE TURN WAS FOR MLG Y, THEN QUESTIONED THE CLRNC AGAIN 40 SECS LATER. THE C/A WENT OFF LESS THAN 1 MI BEFORE SEP WAS LOST. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT THE PAXTO HIGH SECTOR DURING A BUSY PERIOD STAFFED BY 1 CTLR.
