Narrative:
ATIS reported approach to runway 9L, 9R, and 4R at ord. Upon switching to ord approach control, we believe we were given 'heading 270 degrees for runway 9 approach.' later we acknowledged a clearance for a visibility to runway 9L but upon switching to ord tower, we were given a right turn to land on runway 9R. Tower checked with approach control and advised there may have been an error because a new person was being trained on approach control.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AFTER BEING VECTORED FOR VIS TO RWY 9L AT ORD, TWR CHANGED RWY ASSIGNMENT TO RWY 9R.
Narrative: ATIS RPTED APCH TO RWY 9L, 9R, AND 4R AT ORD. UPON SWITCHING TO ORD APCH CTL, WE BELIEVE WE WERE GIVEN 'HDG 270 DEGS FOR RWY 9 APCH.' LATER WE ACKNOWLEDGED A CLRNC FOR A VIS TO RWY 9L BUT UPON SWITCHING TO ORD TWR, WE WERE GIVEN A R TURN TO LAND ON RWY 9R. TWR CHKED WITH APCH CTL AND ADVISED THERE MAY HAVE BEEN AN ERROR BECAUSE A NEW PERSON WAS BEING TRAINED ON APCH CTL.
