Narrative:

Banner tow over NOTAM area. We flew twice on saturday and once the following sunday over the golf course and later learned a NOTAM was issued not to over fly during the 'special interest activity' at that golf course. Because we flew from 06C, a distance of less than 5 mi, no WX briefing was obtained. Since we were flying in the vicinity of our base airport, we could 'see' the WX and did not legally need a briefing. In the future, when NOTAMS are available weeks and months in advance, a mailing should be made by the local GADO to all airports and pilots of the special activities on the local area.
