On climbout; cabin temperature began climbing [and] we were unable to control temperature. All zone temperature indicators eventually read 99 with actual conditions well above. Aircraft side panels were boiling hot. No EICAS messages displayed. Contacted maintenance control for assistance in trouble shooting situation - useless. Unable to control temperature and concerned about the extreme heat decided to divert to [an alternate airport].
