Narrative:

We established on the runway 26L ILS (localizer and G/south) at approximately 7000' MSL. Westbound at that hour the smoke and haze produces a very marginal visibility condition. As best as we can remember, the ATIS had reported partial obscuration 3HK, wind 250/14 and 80 degrees F. Closer in (approximately 1000' MSL) we were warned of a turboprop small transport turning a right base to line up on 26R. At about 600-700' the copilot spotted the small transport at the 3-4 O'clock position, above us and converging as he was completing his turn to final. His wing was up and obviously did not see us. The copilot radioed the tower for the small transport to go around which it promptly did. I could not see the event from the captain's seat but the copilot said he was dangerously close. We called the tower later and informed them we would file a near miss report. Supplemental information from acn 147751: there was a second air carrier jet that I was not told about. I idented what I believed was the right runway after about 5 seconds and was slightly south of the centerline and corrected. 5 second later an air carrier jet called a near miss. I was told to go around.

Title: CLOSE PROX ACR-MLG ATX-SMT INBOUND TO PARALLEL RWYS AT ONT.

Narrative: WE ESTABLISHED ON THE RWY 26L ILS (LOC AND G/S) AT APPROX 7000' MSL. WBND AT THAT HR THE SMOKE AND HAZE PRODUCES A VERY MARGINAL VIS CONDITION. AS BEST AS WE CAN REMEMBER, THE ATIS HAD RPTED PARTIAL OBSCURATION 3HK, WIND 250/14 AND 80 DEGS F. CLOSER IN (APPROX 1000' MSL) WE WERE WARNED OF A TURBOPROP SMT TURNING A RIGHT BASE TO LINE UP ON 26R. AT ABOUT 600-700' THE COPLT SPOTTED THE SMT AT THE 3-4 O'CLOCK POS, ABOVE US AND CONVERGING AS HE WAS COMPLETING HIS TURN TO FINAL. HIS WING WAS UP AND OBVIOUSLY DID NOT SEE US. THE COPLT RADIOED THE TWR FOR THE SMT TO GO AROUND WHICH IT PROMPTLY DID. I COULD NOT SEE THE EVENT FROM THE CAPT'S SEAT BUT THE COPLT SAID HE WAS DANGEROUSLY CLOSE. WE CALLED THE TWR LATER AND INFORMED THEM WE WOULD FILE A NEAR MISS RPT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 147751: THERE WAS A SECOND ACR JET THAT I WAS NOT TOLD ABOUT. I IDENTED WHAT I BELIEVED WAS THE RIGHT RWY AFTER ABOUT 5 SECS AND WAS SLIGHTLY S OF THE CENTERLINE AND CORRECTED. 5 SEC LATER AN ACR JET CALLED A NEAR MISS. I WAS TOLD TO GO AROUND.
