Narrative:
After cleared for the approach forgot to contact tower to obtain clearance to land. This is common problem and recently happened to a corp jet ATP who is one of the best pilots I know who is facing overzealous FAA certificate action now, so I was well aware of this problem. Therefore I feel FAA procedure needs to be changed to avoid necessity of having to remember to do the illogical: obtain 2 clrncs for 1 landing!
