Narrative:

We were proceeding from tremo to kippr waypoint when ATC asked where we were going. We said kippr. He said he did not show that on our flight plan; then cleared us direct to usire. Upon further review; we made a mistake. The waypoint on our flight plan we were supposed to be going to was kimmr. The two points are not far from each other and basically we weren't terribly far off course; but off course we were. Unsure what caused it. Clearly we made a mistake. Kippr and kimmr are similar enough that during waypoint check I didn't speak clearly enough and/or the first officer misheard. Either way; we both missed it. We already have procedures in place to prevent this so I don't have any new suggestions.
