Narrative:

I was talking to slc approach. I intended to land at slc and was inbound from the north. I departed slc, flew north about 40 mi and then returned. Alc approach told me of the traffic which I saw at 12 O'clock position. He was approximately 500' to 800' above and 5 mi. He was doing steep turns. At approximately 2 mi the plane turned and appeared to aim at me and started to descend. I had to swerve hard left to avoid the collision. I thought the controller had been talking to him also. I told the controller it was a close miss. I'm not sure why the other plane made a turn directly into me and descended to my altitude. It was like he wanted to hit me.
