Narrative:

Flight plan filed at mfr for mfr to rbg, landing; rbg to siy, landing; siy to rdd. Assumed flight plan as filed was round-robin (close at rdd). FSS called rbg fixed base operator and said I forgot to close flight plan. Communication between pilot and FSS did not make clear that multileg flight plan was desired.

Narrative: FLT PLAN FILED AT MFR FOR MFR TO RBG, LNDG; RBG TO SIY, LNDG; SIY TO RDD. ASSUMED FLT PLAN AS FILED WAS ROUND-ROBIN (CLOSE AT RDD). FSS CALLED RBG FIXED BASE OPERATOR AND SAID I FORGOT TO CLOSE FLT PLAN. COM BTWN PLT AND FSS DID NOT MAKE CLR THAT MULTILEG FLT PLAN WAS DESIRED.
