Narrative:
Cleared to taxi into gate. Initially thought we were not on centerline because we were getting either bad or no guidance. Moved the acquire left/right to acquire the taxi guidance. By the time I stopped the aircraft we were now slightly (approximately 3-5 ft) past the nose spot. Proceeded with a normal shutdown.

Title: Captain of a large turbojet reported stopping past the parking stop point due to insufficient guidance.
Narrative: Cleared to taxi into gate. Initially thought we were not on centerline because we were getting either bad or no guidance. Moved the acquire left/right to acquire the taxi guidance.
