Narrative:

Airline gates C-4, 6 and 8 at cvg have fixed pedestal type jetways. Metal ground equipment is permanently installed immediately below the boarding ramp. Thus: after closing the aircraft door and removing the boarding ramp (jetway), the forward aircraft boarding door is unusable as an emergency exit due to the interference of the ramp and equipment with the aircraft door emergency slide. Procedures should be established to preclude closing the aircraft door and removing the jetway until immediately prior to pushback.

Title: POSSIBLE JETWAY EQUIPMENT CONFLICT WITH EVACUATION SLIDE AND PROCS AT CVG.

Narrative: AIRLINE GATES C-4, 6 AND 8 AT CVG HAVE FIXED PEDESTAL TYPE JETWAYS. METAL GND EQUIP IS PERMANENTLY INSTALLED IMMEDIATELY BELOW THE BOARDING RAMP. THUS: AFTER CLOSING THE ACFT DOOR AND REMOVING THE BOARDING RAMP (JETWAY), THE FORWARD ACFT BOARDING DOOR IS UNUSABLE AS AN EMER EXIT DUE TO THE INTERFERENCE OF THE RAMP AND EQUIP WITH THE ACFT DOOR EMER SLIDE. PROCS SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED TO PRECLUDE CLOSING THE ACFT DOOR AND REMOVING THE JETWAY UNTIL IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO PUSHBACK.
