Narrative:

At time of T/D on landing, the left wheel of an small aircraft would not roll and remain locked for the entire landing roll, causing the aircraft to go towards the left side of the runway. The aircraft went off the left side of the runway into a small ditch filled with snow damaging the nose gear and propeller. During the landing roll while the left brake was locked, I applied more right brake and right rudder to help keep the airplane straight on the runway, but the brake felt inoperative also. This was caused by water splashing around the wheels and brakes from my soft field takeoff, thus causing ice to form on the brakes.

Title: TRAINING SMA EXPERIENCLES LOCKED WHEEL BRAKE DUE TO ICE FORMATION. RWY EXCURSION RESULTS UPON LNDG AND ACFT IS DAMAGED.

Narrative: AT TIME OF T/D ON LNDG, THE L WHEEL OF AN SMA WOULD NOT ROLL AND REMAIN LOCKED FOR THE ENTIRE LNDG ROLL, CAUSING THE ACFT TO GO TOWARDS THE L SIDE OF THE RWY. THE ACFT WENT OFF THE L SIDE OF THE RWY INTO A SMALL DITCH FILLED WITH SNOW DAMAGING THE NOSE GEAR AND PROP. DURING THE LNDG ROLL WHILE THE L BRAKE WAS LOCKED, I APPLIED MORE R BRAKE AND R RUDDER TO HELP KEEP THE AIRPLANE STRAIGHT ON THE RWY, BUT THE BRAKE FELT INOPERATIVE ALSO. THIS WAS CAUSED BY WATER SPLASHING AROUND THE WHEELS AND BRAKES FROM MY SOFT FIELD TKOF, THUS CAUSING ICE TO FORM ON THE BRAKES.
