Narrative:

Was working approach/departure control for several airports, both controled and uncontrolled. Departures northbound off addison airport and mckinney, tx, airport were vectored north at 4000', 20 degrees convergence, 15 mi latitude sep. Became extremely busy with arrs to dallas love field (approximately 15 arrs in 5 mins). Forgot about the 2 nbnders and allowed them to converge. Missed by 1 mi. Loss of sep discovered by controllers and collision alert feature of ARTS III. Alternate factors: was during meal hour. Usual rush was ending and supervisors cleared room for dinner breaks. Was working 2 sectors combined, no handoff man, supervisor walked away from the area. Everything happened so fast, never thought to seek assistance (none was available).
