Narrative:

While performing his preflight checks; the captain inadvertently pressed the left engine fire bottle discharge button instead of the shaker test.departure was delayed due to a weather ground stop; and the gate agent was helping clean the cabin for departure. The extended delay and presence of the gate agent may have caused distraction.I think maybe I should study the captain flows and perhaps watch out the corner of my eye while they are being performed. Of course I can't do this every time; but had I been paying attention I might have been able to speak up before the button was pushed. I was just sitting in my seat and not really watching what was happening.
