Narrative:

Incident occurred on mon eve on first flight after washing and waxing aircraft on sat. After initial takeoff notice that airspeed indication was 0, was too high to continue and land straight ahead. Called tower and told them I needed, 'immediate landing.' tower asked for repeat. Told them needed, 'immediate landing, close in.' tower cleared the pattern and told me airport was mine and cleared to land any runway. After landing was asked if I needed assistance. Told them no. Was cleared to ground and then parking. Inspection disclosed no pitot or static ports blocked. Of note is that at landing airspeed came on--a subsequent test high speed taxi and low lift off and flight down the longest runway revealed all functioning normally. Because the aircraft had been washed and waxed, particular attention during preflight by 2 pilots was made of the pitot static system and all appeared proper and nothing was blocked. Our final conclusion was that there was probably water in the system that either drained or dried in the initial flight. I was left seat. My husband was in right seat. He was in process of checking me out in this aircraft. Upon loss of airspeed, he took over and landed as PIC.

Title: ON TRAINING FLT REPORTERS DISCOVERED AIRSPEED READ 0 AFTER LIFT-OFF. CONTINUED AROUND PATTERN FOR PRECAUTIONARY LNDG.

Narrative: INCIDENT OCCURRED ON MON EVE ON FIRST FLT AFTER WASHING AND WAXING ACFT ON SAT. AFTER INITIAL TKOF NOTICE THAT AIRSPD INDICATION WAS 0, WAS TOO HIGH TO CONTINUE AND LAND STRAIGHT AHEAD. CALLED TWR AND TOLD THEM I NEEDED, 'IMMEDIATE LNDG.' TWR ASKED FOR REPEAT. TOLD THEM NEEDED, 'IMMEDIATE LNDG, CLOSE IN.' TWR CLRED THE PATTERN AND TOLD ME ARPT WAS MINE AND CLRED TO LAND ANY RWY. AFTER LNDG WAS ASKED IF I NEEDED ASSISTANCE. TOLD THEM NO. WAS CLRED TO GND AND THEN PARKING. INSPECTION DISCLOSED NO PITOT OR STATIC PORTS BLOCKED. OF NOTE IS THAT AT LNDG AIRSPD CAME ON--A SUBSEQUENT TEST HIGH SPD TAXI AND LOW LIFT OFF AND FLT DOWN THE LONGEST RWY REVEALED ALL FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. BECAUSE THE ACFT HAD BEEN WASHED AND WAXED, PARTICULAR ATTN DURING PREFLT BY 2 PLTS WAS MADE OF THE PITOT STATIC SYS AND ALL APPEARED PROPER AND NOTHING WAS BLOCKED. OUR FINAL CONCLUSION WAS THAT THERE WAS PROBABLY WATER IN THE SYS THAT EITHER DRAINED OR DRIED IN THE INITIAL FLT. I WAS LEFT SEAT. MY HUSBAND WAS IN RIGHT SEAT. HE WAS IN PROCESS OF CHKING ME OUT IN THIS ACFT. UPON LOSS OF AIRSPD, HE TOOK OVER AND LANDED AS PIC.
