Narrative:

I was preparing to launch on a proficiency flight in a retired fgt X from stead field. At the time, 4 other light aircraft were in stead field traffic pattern shooting full stop lndgs. As I taxied to the active (runway 08), I monitored the CTAF. I waited at the hold short line until there was a break in the traffic. One small aircraft just turning downwind, one about to turn base (all for 08). The small aircraft Y turning base appeared to be wide and with a large interval. At that time I announced on 122.8 (CTAF/unicom) 'fgt Y is taking the active 08 for left crosswind departure'. I checked traffic and pulled onto the runway and proceeded with my run-up (which usually takes about 30 seconds). At that time the previous 'base leg small aircraft Y' announced final for '08'. I again announced 'fgt X departing runway 08, left crosswind departure'. Small aircraft Y, on final at that time, then said 'damn jet jockeys think they own the place...(call sign) is going around on the right side of the fgt'. As I started to release my brakes I spotted small aircraft Y at 3 O'clock high. I then heard, 'fgt X, can I land in front of you?' I responded with an emphatic 'negative, I'm rolling'. With that, small aircraft Y side-slipped from about 300' and landed on 08 just ahead of me. I went to idle, boards, and brakes and called 'fgt X aborting' and stopped, and left the runway on the 1ST taxiway. I could not see the conflicting small aircraft Y (he pulled off runway at some point). I then taxied back to runway 08 and departed without incident. When I landed, I tried to locate the pilot of small aircraft Y that had caused the incident and was unable. I was, however, able to find several pilot witnesses who were appalled at small aircraft Y's behavior (he apparently had angled in towards the runway as soon as I had taken the active). I acted as responsibly as possible. The other aircraft put me (and himself) at extreme risk either by misunderstanding my 'negative' on his request to land ahead of me (on the runway) or he intentionally did this to 'show me' he could do whatever he wanted. I did all I could to insure I would not be interfering with normal operations. I waited for a break in traffic before taking the runway, I announced my intentions at every moment and still this did not prevent a very close call, either the result of misunderstanding or, more probably, the result of someone's misdirected ego.

Title: SMA Y LANDS AT 4SD ON RWY OCCUPIED BY WARBIRD FGT X WHICH IS ON THE TKOF ROLL.

Narrative: I WAS PREPARING TO LAUNCH ON A PROFICIENCY FLT IN A RETIRED FGT X FROM STEAD FIELD. AT THE TIME, 4 OTHER LIGHT ACFT WERE IN STEAD FIELD TFC PATTERN SHOOTING FULL STOP LNDGS. AS I TAXIED TO THE ACTIVE (RWY 08), I MONITORED THE CTAF. I WAITED AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE UNTIL THERE WAS A BREAK IN THE TFC. ONE SMA JUST TURNING DOWNWIND, ONE ABOUT TO TURN BASE (ALL FOR 08). THE SMA Y TURNING BASE APPEARED TO BE WIDE AND WITH A LARGE INTERVAL. AT THAT TIME I ANNOUNCED ON 122.8 (CTAF/UNICOM) 'FGT Y IS TAKING THE ACTIVE 08 FOR LEFT XWIND DEP'. I CHECKED TFC AND PULLED ONTO THE RWY AND PROCEEDED WITH MY RUN-UP (WHICH USUALLY TAKES ABOUT 30 SECONDS). AT THAT TIME THE PREVIOUS 'BASE LEG SMA Y' ANNOUNCED FINAL FOR '08'. I AGAIN ANNOUNCED 'FGT X DEPARTING RWY 08, LEFT XWIND DEP'. SMA Y, ON FINAL AT THAT TIME, THEN SAID 'DAMN JET JOCKEYS THINK THEY OWN THE PLACE...(CALL SIGN) IS GOING AROUND ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FGT'. AS I STARTED TO RELEASE MY BRAKES I SPOTTED SMA Y AT 3 O'CLOCK HIGH. I THEN HEARD, 'FGT X, CAN I LAND IN FRONT OF YOU?' I RESPONDED WITH AN EMPHATIC 'NEGATIVE, I'M ROLLING'. WITH THAT, SMA Y SIDE-SLIPPED FROM ABOUT 300' AND LANDED ON 08 JUST AHEAD OF ME. I WENT TO IDLE, BOARDS, AND BRAKES AND CALLED 'FGT X ABORTING' AND STOPPED, AND LEFT THE RWY ON THE 1ST TXWY. I COULD NOT SEE THE CONFLICTING SMA Y (HE PULLED OFF RWY AT SOME POINT). I THEN TAXIED BACK TO RWY 08 AND DEPARTED WITHOUT INCIDENT. WHEN I LANDED, I TRIED TO LOCATE THE PLT OF SMA Y THAT HAD CAUSED THE INCIDENT AND WAS UNABLE. I WAS, HOWEVER, ABLE TO FIND SEVERAL PLT WITNESSES WHO WERE APPALLED AT SMA Y'S BEHAVIOR (HE APPARENTLY HAD ANGLED IN TOWARDS THE RWY AS SOON AS I HAD TAKEN THE ACTIVE). I ACTED AS RESPONSIBLY AS POSSIBLE. THE OTHER ACFT PUT ME (AND HIMSELF) AT EXTREME RISK EITHER BY MISUNDERSTANDING MY 'NEGATIVE' ON HIS REQUEST TO LAND AHEAD OF ME (ON THE RWY) OR HE INTENTIONALLY DID THIS TO 'SHOW ME' HE COULD DO WHATEVER HE WANTED. I DID ALL I COULD TO INSURE I WOULD NOT BE INTERFERING WITH NORMAL OPERATIONS. I WAITED FOR A BREAK IN TFC BEFORE TAKING THE RWY, I ANNOUNCED MY INTENTIONS AT EVERY MOMENT AND STILL THIS DID NOT PREVENT A VERY CLOSE CALL, EITHER THE RESULT OF MISUNDERSTANDING OR, MORE PROBABLY, THE RESULT OF SOMEONE'S MISDIRECTED EGO.
