Narrative:
Upon takeoff; cht #5 rapidly climbed into the yellow and kept climbing. I kept the mixture full forward; the fuel pump on boost; and lowered the nose to try to cool the engine; however it stayed hot. I immediately contacted approach and told them that I needed to return to the airport and my engine was reading hot.

Title: SR20 pilot reported returning to departure airport after experiencing high cylinder head temperature after takeoff.
Narrative: Upon takeoff; CHT #5 rapidly climbed into the yellow and kept climbing. I kept the mixture full forward; the fuel pump on boost; and lowered the nose to try to cool the engine; however it stayed hot. I immediately contacted Approach and told them that I needed to return to the airport and my engine was reading hot.
