Narrative:

Obtained clearance (IFR) to depart compton airport. Cleared to limbo intersection, vectors to V64 climb and maintain 5000'. Clearance was effective from AX40-AX45 local. Departed at AX42. Departure control advised to stop climb at 4500'. I requested vectors thru lax corridor. Controller advised that since I was VFR on top, radar service was terminated. I remained on frequency and realized that I was possible in TCA between lax 165 degree radial and lax 192 degree radial, and immediately executed a 180 degree turn to return between lax 165 degree radial and lax 076 degree radial. Controller called and asked if I was still on frequency. I replied in the affirmative, and he gave me a telephone number to call for possible TCA incursion. After leaving lax corridor airspace, nwbnd, controller called and advised that I was clear of TCA and radar service was terminated. After landing, telephone number was called, and no one had information on the incident. I believe that this problem could have been avoided if the controller had vectored my aircraft thru the corridor, rather than just trying to get rid of me. I feel that the corrective action taken was appropriate, and while no TCA incursion was evident, it could have possibly occurred had the corrective action been delayed. It seems to me that all traffic in the VFR corridor in 'operation top' conditions should be radar vectored to assure compliance with the established rules.

Title: SMT DEPARTED IFR TO VFR ON TOP WITH CLRNC LIMIT LOCATED IN LAX TCA IN POSITION TO FLY SHORELINE ROUTE NORTHBOUND BUT INSTEAD CANCELS IFR AT INTERMEDIATE ALT AND LOCATED IN THE TCA THEREBY CREATING A PENETRATION SITUATION.

Narrative: OBTAINED CLRNC (IFR) TO DEPART COMPTON ARPT. CLRED TO LIMBO INTXN, VECTORS TO V64 CLIMB AND MAINTAIN 5000'. CLRNC WAS EFFECTIVE FROM AX40-AX45 LCL. DEPARTED AT AX42. DEP CTL ADVISED TO STOP CLIMB AT 4500'. I REQUESTED VECTORS THRU LAX CORRIDOR. CTLR ADVISED THAT SINCE I WAS VFR ON TOP, RADAR SERVICE WAS TERMINATED. I REMAINED ON FREQ AND REALIZED THAT I WAS POSSIBLE IN TCA BETWEEN LAX 165 DEG RADIAL AND LAX 192 DEG RADIAL, AND IMMEDIATELY EXECUTED A 180 DEG TURN TO RETURN BETWEEN LAX 165 DEG RADIAL AND LAX 076 DEG RADIAL. CTLR CALLED AND ASKED IF I WAS STILL ON FREQ. I REPLIED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE, AND HE GAVE ME A TELEPHONE NUMBER TO CALL FOR POSSIBLE TCA INCURSION. AFTER LEAVING LAX CORRIDOR AIRSPACE, NWBND, CTLR CALLED AND ADVISED THAT I WAS CLEAR OF TCA AND RADAR SERVICE WAS TERMINATED. AFTER LNDG, TELEPHONE NUMBER WAS CALLED, AND NO ONE HAD INFO ON THE INCIDENT. I BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE CTLR HAD VECTORED MY ACFT THRU THE CORRIDOR, RATHER THAN JUST TRYING TO GET RID OF ME. I FEEL THAT THE CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN WAS APPROPRIATE, AND WHILE NO TCA INCURSION WAS EVIDENT, IT COULD HAVE POSSIBLY OCCURRED HAD THE CORRECTIVE ACTION BEEN DELAYED. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT ALL TFC IN THE VFR CORRIDOR IN 'OP TOP' CONDITIONS SHOULD BE RADAR VECTORED TO ASSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE ESTABLISHED RULES.
