Narrative:

After knocking on the main cabin door and receiving the thumbs up signal; I began to pull open the exterior door flaps. At this point; the door was opened from the inside at which point the exterior door flaps quickly retracted inward. Had I not quickly let go of the flaps; both hands would have sustained major trauma to the fingers holding open the flaps. After the door was opened; I spoke with the flight attendant in charge of the door and explained that that door was never to be opened from inside except in an emergency and what she did almost injured my hands. She did not seem too concerned and uttered 'I don't work this plane very often'. Her knowledge of door operations seemed vague at best. Disappointed at that for sure.
