Narrative:
I inadvertently entered the class D airspace of koxc; misreading the top of the class D on the VFR chart I was using as [30] when it was actually [32]. It's unclear to me why I misread the chart; but the adjacent class D at kdxr does have a top of [30]; so it's possible I mistook one for the other. The kdxr tower asked me to call the koxc tower; which I did after completing the flight. I explained the situation to the koxc controller as I did above.as many pilots do; I was using the electronic version of the new york sectional chart on an ipad. There's a wealth of important information there. I wonder if the FAA would consider a next generation of the charts to include various layers or otherwise implement a 'declutter' mechanism as on the G1000 mfd to limit the information presented in various ways. I say this not as an excuse; but simply as a suggestion to make charts easier to use and enhance safety in the skies.
