Narrative:
I did a full run up before the first flight of the day. I taxied out to [the] runway after picking up my IFR clearance. I was cleared for takeoff and started the roll down the runway. At 500 ft; I saw the left alt light come on. I called the tower; told them I would switch to approach because I needed to fly the approach and return to land. Before I could switch; the right alt light came on too. I informed approach of the situation; and said I needed to come back in and land as soon as possible. I leveled off; and began to run through the dual alternator failure checklist. At this point the low volt light came on as well. I shut off all unnecessary electrical equipment and let operations know what was going on. Approach brought me in on final; I put the gear down and switched over to tower. I was cleared to land and landed with no further incidence.
