Narrative:

We were reassigned to fly this flight as the scheduled crew was out of duty time and returned to the gate. After a frequency change from new york to washington center we were instructed to turn left to a 220 heading about 70 degrees from our on course heading. After some discussion we discovered that ATC had us on a reroute that we did not receive.I believe what happened is that the original crew did get this reroute; however when we took over the airplane we completed a crew change flow and checklist. We also requested our pre departure clearance clearance and put it in the FMC. This clearance must have been what the original crew had before the reroute. We had no knowledge of the reroute and simply inserted out pre departure clearance clearance. ATC had no knowledge of a new crew operating the aircraft and must have assumed we were operating on the reroute.we sorted it out with ATC and continued to destination without further incident.

Title: Air carrier flight crew reported relieving the previous crew which reached its duty time limit. During the subsequent leg; the new crew was informed of a track deviation because the previous crew received a reroute which they had no knowledge about.
