Narrative:

We performed a go around at sfo due to insufficient separation from departing traffic. We were on final to 28R when tower cleared 2 aircraft for takeoff on 1L and subsequently on 1R. When the clearance was issued to the aircraft we both realized that the separation might not work out. We continued down the approach for about another 200 feet or so until it became very obvious that the separation wasn't sufficient from the traffic departing the crossing runway. The go around was executed without any further anomalies and we were vectored back for a normal landing. Neither of us noted the separation distance as we passed over the departing traffic. The go around was initiated at approximately 400 AGL.it appeared to us that the controller had issued the takeoff clearance to both aircraft on the 1s too late. It felt like he may have overestimated our distance in trail of an aircraft that had just landed (we were approximately 3 miles in trail). As soon as the proceeding aircraft landed on 28R and pass the runway intersections he cleared the other aircraft for departure.
