Narrative:

I; as a flying pilot; was assigned as a PIC on this reposition flight with a new hired PIC who is from [a different country] and has not been flying in the united states for a while. We got the clearance that stated 250 knots on departure. So I briefed that 'I will stay 200 kts until we get to north bound because of lax class B on south of vny; and once on the northbound; we will fly at 250 kts' and we reviewed the normal ATC clearance. On CANOGA2 departure; we turned to 213 heading and climb to 4000. Around 3500 feet; we got TCAS RA; and alerting 'monitor vertical speed'. I stopped climbing and I saw the traffic at 11 o'clock around the same altitude passing to left. I told pilot monitoring that 'I see the traffic'. Then pm reported to ATC that we had to comply with the RA. Then we got the heading instruction and climb to 13000. But because of the traffic alert; my mind was distracted and I set the speed bug at 280 kts as soon as we passed 10000 ft. We completed the after takeoff check; and got the instruction to climb to 14000 then he said 'normal speed'. Then we noticed that we forgot about speed restriction. ATC didn't say anything but we both debriefed and acknowledged that we both were distracted.next time; I will put a sticky note on the instrument wall to remind myself.
